Though i prefer instrumental music while coding, its good to get pumped up with couple of songs :

P.S. list is full of unconventional music

Top slow rock songs (my fav. 16-20)

Smoke on the Water – Deep Purple

Layla – Derek & the Dominos

It’s a real masterpiece of art.One of the best pieces of music ever written, it’s impossible not to love this song !!!

Light My Fire – The Doors

It is one of those psychedelic rock songs that features long instrumental solos. The incredible playing by Ray Manzaric is so amazing.

Simple Man – Lynyrd Skynyrd

Time – Pink Floyd

To me, this song  has always stood as a reminder to seize the day and make the most out of life. Yet, at the same time,  this song also talks of the importance of the home, “Home, home again I like to be here when I can…” You have so much that you want to do but not enough time to do it in.

Babe I’m Gonna Leave You – Led Zeppelin

While My Guitar Gently Weeps – George Harrison

Free Bird – Lynyrd Skynyrd

“FreeBird” reflect the desire to literally be as free as a bird. In my opinion, it is among those rare songs that really makes you think about life differently.

Black – Pearl Jam

Echoes – Pink Floyd

Another of Pink Floyd’s “epics”, “Echoes” really pushed the space-rock tendencies of Pink Floyd to their max. Every note of this song is a work of art. The lyrics are totally extraordinary and strangly hard to decipher. For me, the subject of this songs seems to center around our existence. The ‘ping ping ping’ sounds at the beginning represent the thought process of a very singular, very simple form of intelligence. It’s the same thing over and over again, there’s no memory of the past, there’s no looking to the future, it’s just a continuous present. After a little while, more stuff, more complexity is added to the ‘pinging’ representing our search for knowledge(light) since the beginning of time for some strange reason that know one is sure of.

In the second part, it is a metaphor explaining the loneliness in the society. It explains that two people who meet won’t communicate or help each other, and because of that, no one benefits .Also two people have never met before, but when they look at each other, there is an apparent connection, almost as if they are meant to be together, but never will be…

The final verse is intense and beautiful .We have nothing to hold us back or stand in our way but yet no one wants to go the extra mile to see, hear, touch, smell, taste, or do anything i.e. everyone is stuck in their comfort zone. Also someone close is being talked about in the end, the restlessness and the realization how important that ‘someone’ will be to him makes him open up and let his emotions over take him, coz he cant bear it any longer.

High Hopes–Pink Floyd

The first time I heard this song I freaked out. Is it even possible for a song to be this good?

Nothing Can Be Explained–Mike Wyzgowski

Heard this one in bleach anime. This gives me chills whenever i hear it…amazing music !!

“Shine On You Crazy Diamond”

This song is mainly about people who fall onto fame nd get caught up in the world…but pink floyd had one person in mind when they made it…Syd…If this song had another name it w’d be GODLIKE.The melody is so haunting and the lyrics are pretty righteous. Even though its a long song,  you w’d still feel WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END!!?

Nothing Else Matters–Metallica

Emotionally powerful song…telling you to be yourself and not care what people think !!!

Hey Jude–The Beatles

Every person has his or her own favorite rock songs. Here are my favourites, hope you enjoy them.

P.S…do leave a comment and don’t forget to rate  !!!

Stairway to Heaven — Led Zeppelin

This song is about a woman who accumulates money, but finds out the hard way her life had no meaning and will not get her into heaven. This is a song of hope and salvation.

Octavarium — Dream Theater

Feel so close to this awesome song. This is just goddamn pure art…beautiful !!

Tears In Heaven – Eric Clapton

Tears in Heaven” is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother’s friend, on March 20, 1991. Clapton, who arrived at the apartment shortly after the accident , was visibly distraught for months afterwards.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen

The 4 different styles of the song represent what he is going through after the murder. The 1st deals with him being in shock of the crime he just committed, (Is this the real life, is this just fantasy?). The second is when he confesses to his mother, (Mamma, just killed a man) but his mum doesn’t want anything to do with him so he ends up killing himself. The third part is when heaven and hell are fighting over him trying to decide where he will be sent. In the song it states “Bismillah no! We will not let you go”, Bismillah means in the name of Allah which means God so It means in the name of God, no! We will not let you go. He ends up losing and is going to hell (Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me). The fourth part of the song has a heavy metal sound to which I think he is telling them what he thinks of life, hell and everything, (so you think you can stone me and spit in my eye, love me and leave me to die). He asks for a second chance to go to heaven but god rejects him again. So now he loses hope and faith and it goes back to the slow part of the song at the start. Nothing really matters, anyway the wind blows.

Imagine – John Lennon

This song was written during the height of the war in vietnam, the first nixon administration and the peace movement. Notice how prevalent the song is even today…

Here are rest 6-20
